I am here for two week-long photography workshops which are taught by awesome instructors who have had years of experience and are experts at what they do! My eyes have been completely opened to see how much I still have to learn about all things photography - yet it is so exciting to be able to learn more and more and continually improve my skills. I have so far to go!
I have bunches of pictures to put up, so forgive this long post! I've kept them categorized the best I could, separating them into the different photo shoots we did throughout the week.
~ * ~ * ~
First off is a couple from our black-and-white shoot. This was not my favorite thing...I like b&w, but in moderation.... I tend to "see" pictures in my head in color :)

Next off we went to Rainbow Falls, aka Graffiti Falls. It was neat there - I liked the waterfall, and the graffiti added good color to the pictures. The hard thing about these photo shoots is that we were only allowed to take 50 pictures, and we could not delete anything. That was an improvement from the first photo shoot when we couldn't even look and see the pictures until we downloaded them on our computers! It was definitely challenging, for the instructors saw exactly where we are in our skills, but it was also very good for it made me really think about each picture I took.
This first picture won the photo of the day contest on Tuesday, so I was excited about that (I got a $10 gift certificate to the IPS store!)!
One of my roommates, who is incredibly nice!:

On Thursday we got to go to the Garden of the Gods and watch two of the instructors take pictures of clients. That was really neat in of itself, but after that we teamed up into groups of three and got to go out and take pictures of each other, practicing what we had been taught and just seen!
(The contest for that day was "the most awkward pose": :P)
My other roommate, who was such a neat girl as well!:
One of the two guys in our class of twenty-two :). I was glad he was in my portraiture group so I could practice both girl and guy poses....

This was actually a photo shoot we did earlier on in the week, where we had to go out and practice our composition skills. It was fun!
I had a lot more trouble with obeying the rule of thirds than I thought I would...it's something I still need to work on :).
Isn't she cute?!

This was on Wednesday I think, when we paired up into groups of two and headed out around the hotel to practice basic portraiture - keeping the eyes in focus and keeping catchlights in the eyes. It was so neat because I got to use my reflector for the first time!! It's cool ;).

Thursday evening we went further up the mountains to an incredibly beautiful lookout, where we got to take picture of the sunset. It was so pretty that I almost didn't want to get my camera out. The aspens near us and that we passed were a beautiful shade of gold, and they brought back so many special memories... I loved them!
I love her!!
And to close, here is probably my favorite picture of the week that I took...the colors are so amazing!!
8 Let them give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love
and His wonderful deeds for men,
and His wonderful deeds for men,
9 for He satisfies the thirsty
and fills the hungry with good things.
and fills the hungry with good things.
Psalm 107:8-9

If you think about it, could you pray for me next week as I start the second class? I'm pretty sure it will be a lot harder than this week, so I'm rather nervous....and I'm hoping my slow computer can keep up with everything. I know I'll need my Father's strength as I go through each day!

WOW, Christa!! I just read your post!! Thanks SO much for posting!! It was so neat to see what you're doing!! Yes!! I'll keep praying for you! I can't wait to find out what happens the next week!! Your photography has already improved, I can tell! Of course, you already were really good, only you're getting even better!! I'm already inspired to try out some of those practices myself!
Love you so much!!
